Rahab – Making Changes in the Middle of the Journey
Hebrews 11:31 (NLT)
It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute did not die with all the others in her city who refused to obey God. For she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.
James 2:25 (NLT)
Rahab the prostitute is another example of this. She was made right with God by her actions—when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road.
Joshua 2:1-24 (NLT)
1. We cannot choose how the world treats us, but we can choose how we respond in a way that will affect the rest of our lives.
The Spirit of God frequently shows us glimpses of our future and gives us three choices:
1. God’s long term best,
2. The world’s short term best
3. Postponing the inevitable.
Acts 3:19 (NIV)
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
2. We choose to begin all over again with God’s alternative best for our lives through repentance
Repentance is a means to times of refreshing and God’s showers of blessings.
Acts 3:19 (Msg)
"Now it's time to change your ways! Turn to face God so he can wipe away your sins, pour out showers of blessing to refresh you,
Repentance is a place to change and realign our thinking towards God’s thinking with a corresponding change in our actions.
Acts 3:19 (GW)
So change the way you think and act, and turn {to God} to have your sins removed.
Acts 3:19 (NCV)
So you must change your hearts and lives! Come back to God, and he will forgive your sins. Then the Lord will send the time of rest.
Repentance is first a change of mind that includes a change in our attitudes.
Acts 3:19 (Liv)
Now change your mind and attitude to God and turn to him so he can cleanse away your sins and send you wonderful times of refreshment from the presence of the Lord
3. Practice living out our hope daily and decision for the alternative life that God has offered to us
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Matthew 16:18 (NLT)
Now I say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
