I WANT TO GET MADE
Share the Baton
Numbers 11:10-17 (NIV)
1. A leader who chooses to lead on his or her own will be crushed by the weight of the ministry. (vv. 10-15)
- One clear sign a leader is in this situation is having an attitude of complaint.
- The longer the leader is in such a situation the more he or she becomes like the situation.
2. Another danger is when the leader fails to recognize and develop potential leaders in his/her midst. (v. 16)
- The talents and giftings of these up-and-coming leaders are being wasted because of the leader’s failure to notice their potential.
- Many times we ignore the leaders around us because they do not fit our definitions of a leader.
3. To have an effective church requires sharing the baton whereby all the leaders are on equal footing before God. (vv. 16-17)
- A leader, though he/she may have more experience and wisdom than others, is no more special than others in the eyes of God.
- Humility, not longevity, is where true authority lies.
