Working Well For the Glory of God Even When We Don't Feel Like It!

Colossians 3:23 (NIV; CEV; ESV; NLT)
-    Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
     -     Do your work willingly, as though you were serving the Lord himself, and not just your earthly
     master.
-    Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
-     Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for
       people.

My object in living is to unite
My avocation and my vocation
As my two eyes make one in sight.
Only when love and need are one,
And the work is play for mortal stakes,
Is the deed ever really done
For Heaven and the future’s sake (By Robert Frost)

An avocation is doing something for pleasure.
A vocation is your regular job, profession or business.

When we worship through our attitude at work – by uniting my pleasure with my vocation

I can do what I love. Or by God’s grace, I can love what I do

Two persons can chisel and hammer at marble: one is simply doing a job by chiseling marble while the other is building a cathedral and temple for God!

It’s not about finding a new job or a better job: It’s about find¬ing a new way of looking at the job you have

You can’t fall in love with your work unless you come to work with a full cup – our purpose and meaning come outside of our jobs that we bring to work

Seek out guides to help us discover how to fill our cups better!

Want to fall in love with what you do? Hang out with people who are in love with what they do.

What if there is just storm and darkness in our jobs: Just act as if you were in love with what you do by faith

The more we are grateful for, the more joyful we will be

“A bird sings not because it has an answer, but because it has a song:” Make a contribution with the time, talent, resources and skills we already have!

Do not wait for perfect conditions to fill our cups – chase and make ordinary circumstances into opportunities
