Spiritual Awakening - Reprogramming our Insecurities

1. Recognize that insecurity is part of an emotional programming that can be reversed, replaced and corrected

2. The first thing that God dealt with was to satisfy our longing for approval and security because He knows that that is our first and deepest need

Romans 1:17 (GW)

God's approval is revealed in this Good News. This approval begins and ends with faith as Scripture says, "The person who has God's approval will live by faith."

Romans 3:20-22 (GW)

Not one person can have God's approval by following Moses' Teachings. Moses' Teachings show what sin is.

[21] Now, the way to receive God's approval has been made plain in a way other than Moses' Teachings. Moses' Teachings and the Prophets tell us this. [22] Everyone who believes has God's approval through faith in Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:28 (GW)

We conclude that a person has God's approval by faith, not by his own efforts.

Romans 10:3-4 (GW)

They don't understand {how to receive} God's approval. So they try to set up their own way to get it, and they have not accepted God's way for receiving his approval. [4] Christ is the fulfillment of Moses' Teachings so that everyone who has faith may receive God's approval.

2 Cor. 5:21 (GW)

God had Christ, who was sinless, take our sin so that we might receive God's approval through him.

3. There is an inner need for security that is so deep that only God can fill it Ð and He has already done so Ð all we need is to be aware and receive it

Psalm 139:17 (NLT)

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable!

Psalm 139:13-18 (NLT)

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body

and knit me together in my mother's womb.

[14] Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!

Your workmanship is marvelousÑand how well I know it.

[15] You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,

as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

[16] You saw me before I was born.

Every day of my life was recorded in your book.

Every moment was laid out

before a single day had passed.

[17] How precious are your thoughts about me, O God!

They are innumerable!

[18] I can't even count them;

they outnumber the grains of sand!

And when I wake up in the morning,

you are still with me!
