Setting Position Aside

John 13:1-17 (NIV)

1.      The most effective way to set your position aside is to live it out to the fullest extent. (v. 1)

• This is made possible when we truly embrace God’s love in our lives.

2.      Setting position aside becomes a lifestyle when we recognize that it is God’s calling for our life. (vv. 2-5)

• This means we must purposefully seek out ways to change lives of self-centeredness into lives of other-centeredness.

3.      Setting position aside is a lifestyle that goes against the grain of what a leader is typically defined as. (vv. 6-11)

• As followers of Jesus we must define our character and purposes based on Jesus’ teachings and lifestyle.

4.      What makes you a true leader with influential power is the harmonization of God’s authority with personal humility. (vv. 12-17)
