I WANT TO GET MADE
Heaven Idol
Psalm 96:1-3 (NIV)
1 Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Sing to the LORD, praise his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
1. We worship God with new songs because we experience fresh miracles every single day. (v. 1)
- We stop worshiping in newness when we begin taking God for granted.
- Each day is a reminder of the greatness of God’s love; we respond in adoration of him.
2. What characterizes us as true worshipers is who we worship. (v. 2)
- Being made into a worshiper requires that God remains the sole reason for our worship.
- When other objects (such as our possessions and dreams) become our life-missions, we will completely dismiss our relationship with God.
3. Worship is directed to God exclusively because only he can offer new life. (v. 2)
- As the creator of the universe, God has the power and authority to change what is dead into something purposeful.
- Our lives should celebrate a God who upholds new existences and creates new meaning.
4. Our worship to God is a testimony that must be broadcast from the private to the public. (v. 3)
- Our personal relationships with God must never be separated from the happenings of the world.
- We must proclaim God’s greatness because the nations of the world need him.
